Thanks so much for stopping by The Calm of His Presence. I am so excited to welcome you to the new home of The Calm of His Presence. There are still a few things to be tweaked but I couldn’t wait to open my doors to you. Whether you are visiting for the first time from the 31 Days series or you have been a friend for a while welcome, won’t you grab a cup of coffee and stay around for a bit?
Calm
What does that word mean to you? What does it look like? What does it feel like?
· Is it when the house is still and the kids are playing quietly together?
· Is it when your day is running orderly and smooth and you’re checking your to-do list off one task at a time?
· Is it when you and your husband make it through a day without fighting?
· Is it when the phone is silent after the barrage of calls from collectors?
Calm – We seek it in our day-to-day lives, we seek it in the world around us, we seek it in our moments, and we seek it in our hearts.
But where do we find it? Where do we go for calm and peace?
We turn to Jesus.
Jesus told His disciples
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27
When the world is crazy all around us Jesus is our source of calm and peace.
“And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:7
How do we put aside the push and pull from the world around us to find the calming peace we so desperately desire in Jesus?
We stop, take a deep breath and ask God to help us.
Psalm 46:10 says, “Be Still, and know I am God”.
When we’re still we give God room and time to settle our mind, our heart and our spirit.
When my mind, heart and spirit are settled on God, His peace and calming presence transcends the crazy world around me.
So today,
· when the kids are fighting
· when one more crisis interrupts your plans for the day
· when you and your husband start the day off arguing…again…
· when the phone won’t stop ringing from the collectors calling because of the unpaid bills
and you’re about to pull your hair out. Take time to stop and take a deep breath and remember- Jesus doesn’t give you what the world gives you. He gives you His Peace and His Calming reassurance that He will guard your heart and your mind in Him – if you will only let him.
Jesus doesn’t give what the world gives. He gives His Peace and Calm.
In His Calm,

I needed this “calm reminder” today. I feel like I really have to CHOOSE calm and allow for it in life. I have to avoid settling for peace “as the world gives” and look for REAL peace. When I don’t, it shows. Thanks for the reminder!
Julie there are many days I need to be reminded to “choose” God’s calm rather than the world’s peace. When I choose His peace I have the peace that passes all understanding. Thanks so much for visiting friend. I’m glad it was the reminder you needed :-).
