Day 10 – Showing God’s Love
Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes, You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.
Deuteronomy 6:4-9 ESV
We are called to love the Lord with all our heart, all our soul and with all our might. When we hold tight to these words, we will live them out in our daily lives with our family and our friends.
Parents, do you show your love for the Lord to your children? If someone were to ask them if their mom or dad loved God, how would they answer? Would your children be able to say you love the Lord based on how you treat them, the words you use in front of them, or your actions?
How about your friends or co-workers? Do you say one thing but your actions speak differently? Would someone be able to look at you without talking to you and know you love the Lord by your actions?
I know these are difficult questions but these are ones we need to ask ourselves. When we truly love the Lord with all our heart, soul and might it shows in our words and our actions with our family and friends. Today, I want you to focus on how you can keep God’s Word first in your heart, mind and life each day.
Thanksgiving
Thank God for the quiet moments to spend in His Presence.
Focus
Ask God to remove distractions so you may focus your heart and mind on Him
God’s Revelation through His Word
Are there words or phrases that stand out to you? Are there spiritual lessons, truths or principles that you can learn? Is God tapping on your heart telling you there are some changes you need to make in order for your family and friends to know of your love for God?
Prayer
Pray God’s Words back to Him, making it personally applicable to you. If God has revealed changes you need to make in your life ask Him to give you the strength to make those changes. Do you need to be more of an example to your children in your daily walk with God? Ask God to show you how to show His love to your children. Take these needs and lay them at the foot of The Cross and ask Him to give you the courage and ability to share His love with your family and your friends.
In His Calm,
