I love my early morning walks. These moments are my time to pray and listen to God’s plans for my day.
There are days when I am energized, walking briskly or running, when I listen to praise music and dance along the way.
Other days I move slower, listen to peaceful instrumental music and rest in God’s Presence listening for His quiet reassuring voice.
Today was one of those quiet, slower days, and boy how I love how He stops me to take in the beauty of His Creation. It is on these days I notice spider webs in the grass, a bright green frog resting on the path, and a beautiful sunrise.
Today as I was nearing the end of my walk I noticed a lone white flower blooming in the gutter. This flower was surround by withered, brown leaves that had fallen from the trees.
The tree these leaves fell from once held their source of life. Through the roots that grow deep into the ground the tree gains it’s nutrients and then passes it on to the leaves. As cool winds blow and storms beat down on the leaves they fall to the ground losing their source of life. But somehow in the midst of the dead leaves a lone white flower is able to flourish.
I couldn’t help but wonder how when storms blow into our lives and we are tossed around and feel like we are in the gutter of life. It is then that God can use what looks like death and decay to be a source of new life for us.
My sweet friend, are you facing storms? Do you feel like you are caught in the gutter of life and don’t know how you are going to keep from going down the drain? Cling to God, let Him take the hard days and turn them into a source of new life.
Dear Lord I pray that when life becomes hard and storms rage that you will turn those days of hurt and pain into new life. Help us to trust in your mighty hand to do a new thing in our lives. In Your Name I Pray, Amen.
In His Calm,
