Five Minute Friday ~ Tree
Go:
I sat at the computer focused on my list of things to do. The kids were playing around me but I wasn’t paying attention to them.
Until… my daughter lightly tapped me on the shoulder.
Honestly I was a bit annoyed. I had lots to do and really couldn’t be bothered.
But, as any normal 4 year old would do she persistently tapped.
“Mom, I need to ask you something”, she whispered.
“Yes honey…” I reluctantly answered.
Then it happened… “How do I know I’m going to heaven? What does it mean to ask Jesus into my heart?”
Within an instant anything else I had on my mind was erased. My little girl was asking about more important things than my to do list!
I turned away from my computer and looked straight at the Christmas Tree standing tall behind me.
“Oh Lord, have I gotten so caught up in my to-do list & the hustle & bustle of the Christmas season that I’ve forgotten what it’s all about? Christmas is about the birth of Your Son and the fact that He came to earth to save us from our sins! Help me Lord to share you’re amazing Love with my daughter.” I prayed.
I pulled her up on my lap. Curious, my son, who was already a Child of God, joined us and together in front of the Christmas Tree we shared with my daughter all about God’s love for us.
And that night, there in front of the tree as I listened to my daughter ask Jesus into her heart I was reminded that Christmas isn’t about presents under the tree or the decorated lights on the houses or even the Christmas Carols.
Christmas is about God sending His Son to earth to be born of a virgin so that He can show us what Grace and Sacrificial Love is all about.
