Hi there my friends,
In Luke 6:48,49 we read “He is like a man building a house, who dug down deep and laid the foundation on rock. When a flood came, the torrent struck that house but could not shake it, because it was well built. But the one who hears my words and does not put them into practice is like a man who built a house on the ground without a foundation. The moment the torrent struck that house, it collapsed and its destruction was compete.”
When my husband and I first knew we were going to be married we made the commitment to build our marriage on a strong foundation. Neither one of us came from a home with strong marriages. While we didn’t have good examples modeled for us, we knew where to turn for the wisdom we needed to build our own strong marriage. We knew through God’s Word, prayer, open communication and unconditional love for each other we could build a marriage that was strong enough to withstand any storm that came our way.
After 18 years of marriage we are stronger now than we have ever been. Has it been an easy walk in the park? Not always, there have been days when we were extremely frustrated with each other, hurt and angry but through standing firm in God’s Word, faithfully praying for each other, keeping the lines of communication open and granting unconditional love we have made it through the dark storms of our life together.
This week we are focusing on praying for our marriage. Prayer builds a foundation nothing can destroy. When you pray the word of God over your marriage you cover it with the armor of God’s protection. This armor will give you the strength and stamina you need to make it through the attacks and storms that attempt to ravage your marriage.
Will you join me and pray God’s protection over your marriage?
Morning Prayers Week 3 ~ Prayer for Marriage
Dear Lord this week as we focus on praying for our marriages may they be a place where the fruit of your Spirit is evident. May we remember that love “always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.” 1Corinthians 13:7,8 Lord gives us eyes that stay focused on your Truth as we seek to love our spouse in the way you lead. In Your Name We Pray, Amen. #inhiscalm #morningprayer #fruitofthespirit #prayerformarriage #loveneverfails
Lord you tell us one of the fruit of the Spirit is joy. As we seek to display the fruit of the Spirit within our marriages help us to foster joy in the heart of our spouse by speaking kind words, sharing a loving smile and gentle embrace. In Your Name We Pray, Amen! #inhiscalm #morningprayer #fruitofthespirit #prayerformarriage #countitalljoy
