Hi there friends,
I hope this post finds you settled into your routine for 2018. It may have taken my family a little while but we are now fully settled into our schedules. While things have been quiet here on the blog, it doesn’t mean God hasn’t been working in the background. I look forward to sharing with you the many ways God is at work as soon as details are nailed down. How many of you make New Year’s Resolutions, goals or choose a word or verse to focus on for the year? I have never been one to stick to a New Year’s Resolution but a number of years ago I began choosing a word or verse to focus on for the year. This helped me keep my eyes and mind focused on God’s direction for my life and what He wanted to do within me that particular year rather than what I wanted.
If you’ve been around The Calm of His Presence in the past year you know our focus has been on Tending our Pasture. We have discussed what it looks like to tend the pasture within our 4 walls, beyond our 4 walls and outside of our comfort zone. Towards the end of 2017 I shared at a couple of ladies events what it looks like to Tend our Pastures. While praying for, and listening to God’s direction for 2018, I sensed God telling me He isn’t finished working through the Tending my Pasture theme in my life and here on the blog. So, my friends I hope you aren’t disappointed but you are going to be hearing & learning more about tending the pasture God has given you during 2018.
This year we are going to start by working through the question, “What does it look like to Tend my Personal Pasture?” through the discussion of Soul Care and Self Care.
Let me ask you a few questions…
How is your relationship with God? Do you spend time in His Word? How would you describe your prayer life? Are you actively seeking to follow God’s direction for your life or are you passively going about your life hoping you’re making the right choices? Do you have a time set aside where you meet with other believers for small group Bible Study or corporate Worship?
When it comes to taking care of yourself physically and emotionally, do you put everyone else in your life first? Do you take time to recharge your body through proper rest? Do you set aside time for exercise? What do you put in your body on a daily basis? Do you choose the quickest bag of chips you can grab out of the pantry or do you take a few extra minutes to find something health? What activity do you enjoy in your free time?
These are all questions we are going to discuss as we examine what it looks like to tend our personal pasture through Soul Care and Self Care. I hope you will join us next week as we begin looking at Tending our Pastures through Soul Care. I will be sharing more on Facebook over the next few weeks. Before you go, “Like” The Calm of His Presence Facebook page to join the discussion. Until next week…
In His Calm,
