Let’s face it…life is sometimes down right hard…children break our heart, marriages fail, friendships end, coworkers back-stab, the bank statement says there’s only dollars left and the month still has a week to go and cars leave you stranded. Difficulties and heartbreak are all part of life but that doesn’t make it easier to deal with the hurt and pain. Often times we feel as if no one sees or understands the heartache and frustration we feel but my friends that’s where we are wrong.
You see, God loved us so much He sent His Son to die on the Cross for us so that we would know eternal life with Him in Heaven. Jesus’ death on the Cross meant He took ALL of our pain, hurt, anger, and sin upon His shoulders. Imagine with me how hard it was for God to watch His Beloved Son beaten and nailed to the Cross, innocent but willing to die for us? It breaks my heart to imagine the heartache God felt. But here’s the thing, it’s not just my sins Jesus took upon himself it was yours and everyone else.
Let’s think on that for a moment. Jesus took each one of our sins upon Himself which means He can handle anything we place on him now. When we think we are all alone in our frustrations, struggles, heartache, loneliness, and uncertainty Jesus’ actions tell us we are not alone. In Deuteronomy 31:6 God’s Word tells us we are not alone, “For the LORD your God will personally go ahead of you. He will neither fail you nor abandon you.”
But my friend I have to be completely honest with you. There was a time when I thought I was the exception to the truth that God had time for little ‘ole me. My mindset was if He has all these people to be concerned about there’s no way he cares about me or has time for my issues and concerns.
What it really boiled down to was the fact that while I “thought” He didn’t have time for me, the truth was, I didn’t make the time for Him. I had every excuse in the book…I’m too busy, my problems aren’t big enough compared to the other issues in the world, I’m just a stay at home mom I’m not important enough. All of those excuses were rubbish.
Those excuses covered up for the fact that I didn’t know how to go to God with my frustrations, struggles, heartache, loneliness, and uncertainty. While he went before me and sent His Son to the Cross I didn’t know how to take my struggles to the Cross of Christ. So the question is, “How do we take our issues and concerns to the Cross of Christ?” Well my friend that is what we are going to spend the next month talking about here on The Calm of His Presence. Through our series called At The Cross you will gain the tools you need to take your worries and heartache to the Cross of Christ. I promise it’s not hard. Sometimes it just takes a friend coming alongside you and giving you permission to take a few minutes to sit quietly with your Bible, pen and journal and handing those worries over to Him.
Will you join me for At The Cross? I hope you will! I will be back on Monday with more detail. Until then please know I am praying for you my friend. Have a blessed weekend.
In His Calm,
