During this season of Thanksgiving our minds and hearts are focused on being Thankful for all that God gives us.
I’m no different from each of you; I have my days when I’m anything but thankful for the mess that comes into my life but over the last several years I have done a much better job of focusing on thanking God for everything that comes my way.
But this week I have been very convicted over becoming complacent and taking a huge gift for granted.
The gift I’m talking about is not fancy or expensive. It’s not a gift to be shared with anyone else. It’s not to be kept for a short time and then thrown away.
This gift is a gift that once it is given is meant to last a lifetime.
It causes an overwhelming mix of emotions from pure joy to heartache.
It’s a gift that struggles, sweats and hurts but it also brings comfort, peace and life.
It’s a gift that takes the good, the bad and everywhere in between.
It’s a gift that won’t give up in the hard days and cheers loud with pride in the triumphant days.
This gift I’m talking about is the gift of LOVE from my husband.
Nearly 20 years ago he quietly told me he loved me and never in those 20 years have I doubted his love.
He knew the struggles I faced trusting the love & strength of a marriage and worked from day 1 of our relationship to prove to me there is such a thing as “Happily Ever After”.
There have been hard days as we have faced struggles with family illnesses, work related issues, raising children and daily life but one thing has remained constant and that is his love.
So, during this time of Thanksgiving, I take the opportunity to say Thank you to my husband, Jeff for his never-ending, always-faithful love for me.
Have you become complacent in your marriage? Have you taken the time to thank your husband for the gift of his love to you? Will you take time today to tell him how thankful you are for him?
In His Calm,

Hi Mary! I love this. It’s so easy to forget the awesome gift that God gave me when He let me marry my husband. Thanks for this. 🙂
Thanks Brianna! I’ve been reminded a lot this week as my husband has worked many, many long hours. What a blessing to have a husband who sacrifices to provide for us :-). Blessings my friend. Miss your smiling face :-)!
